identifying the community
There are five (5) different categories that a community can fall into:
interest
An Interest community is comprised of members who share an interest or a passion.
action
An Action community is comprised of members who are trying to bring about change.
practice
A Practice community is comprised of members who share a profession or activity.
place
A Place community is comprised of members who share geographic boundaries.
circumstance
A Circumstance community is comprised of members with shared external events or situations.
It is possible for a community to fall into more than one category and if so, feel free to complete the exercise for more than one category. You can, however, choose the category that best fits the community. Once you’ve determined the type of community you’re working with, select the corresponding Community Identity Sheet.
